Welcome to boys team charity
Lamorinda League

The safety and well-being of our members is our top priority. The Board has decided to suspend all btc activities for our league until the end of the current membership year ending April 30. All btc hour requirements will be waived for the current membership year. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and send out guidelines/updates received from btc Inc. for the new membership year which starts May 1st.

If you and your family are looking for opportunities outside of btc to help in our local community, please share anything of interest with us! Perhaps we can reach out to our members and help other organizations that are struggling right now. Members’ health is our top priority. If you do decide to volunteer at this time, please be sure to take appropriate measures and follow the federal, city and local protocols.

New Member Orientation (scheduled for April 26) will hopefully be organized as an online event.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to any of our board members.

We are happy to report that as of last week, 90% of btc TeamMates completed 75% or more of their philanthropy required hours! Below is how that’s broken up by class (keep in mind that 7th-9th grade have a 15 hour vs 10 hour requirement):

Class of 2020: 177.75

Class of 2021: 198.5

Class of 2022: 303.5

Class of 2023: 406.75

Class of 2024: 365.25

Class of 2025: 372

Here are four opportunities to volunteer right now. These are not official btc shifts that can accrue hours, but with more time available in our normally very busy schedules, why not do something just because you can!? Obviously, use your own discretion. By now, we are all aware of the various recommendations when we leave our Shelter In Place situation.

Lamorinda Village

Are you looking to help your friends and neighbors

during our shelter-in-place?

Are you needing someone to do your grocery shopping or pick up medications?

We are so very lucky that Lamorinda Village has offered to expand their services during our shelter-in-place! Lamorinda Village is a local nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting older Lamorinda residents who want to remain safely and independently in their homes, and with the help of community volunteers they have been able to scale up their operations in our time of need.

If you would like to volunteer your time to help, please email to info@lamorindavillage.org, and include:

Full Name

Email Address

Phone Number

If you can’t volunteer, please consider donating to Lamorinda Village at https://lamorindavillage.org/about-lamorinda-village/donate/

Food Bank of Contra Costa & Solano

btc Lamorinda was also approached by the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano about their need for additional volunteers and donations. A lot of their regular volunteers are over a certain age and cannot help them out during the SIP. They need volunteers to make up for that during these challenging times. Please contact:

szeppegno@foodbankccs.org 925-676-7543 x 209

(update as of April 1: The major need has shifted from volunteers to $ donations to ensure there is enough food to distribute. The food needs have increased by ~50% in the past few weeks)

Monument Crisis Center & Points of Lights

Both organizations are accepting food donations right now.  All donations can be dropped off at either charity.
